Competition winning design: this innovative proposal for a new steel footbridge over the A470 and the river Taff at Merthyr Tydfil employs both cable stay and suspension technology.

The single mast carries a pair of suspension cables from which stays drop down to carry the deck. The bridge connects a town centre car park with a shopping centre and the main square of Merthyr Tydfil. The bridge is sited directly over a weir.
